- Constant disruption of the chat.

To Join Looking 4 Kin
New members must be approved before accessing the site. You must now answer the questions, provide a verification email address, fill out the captua and wait to be approved to join.
Sadly we are aware that this is an instant society and this wait time is going to deter people from joining but hopefully it will help stop Looking 4 Kin from being the target of spammers.
Editing Or Adding To Your Profile Page:
Click on the Profile Tab at the top of this page. Here you can Manage Your Profile (change your name, change your privacy settings, change your email address, add your photo, put more information on the names you are researching). It is your page to alter however you want as long as it is kept genealogy related. When done here head on over to the groups and start joining and posting.
To Search For & Join Groups:
Click on the Country and Special Intrest Group in the list above, this will take you to the different areas of the site. Or click on the the Groups tab at the top of this page. On the left you will see a search box, from here you can search for a group type or name.
On the right you also have the option of sorting the groups by most active, latest activity, most members, most active from the drop down box on the right of the groups area.
Once you find a group you wish to join simply click the join button.
To Post A Message:
Please join a group in the area you are researching and click on start a discussion. There are also specialty groups you can post in or you can start a group of your own for your area or family name.
To Search For A Member:
Click on the Members Tab at the top of this page. On the left you will see a simple search box from which you can search a name. There is also an advanced search box where you can search names people are researching or an area.
To Invite Friends:
Click on the Invite Friends Tab at the top of this page and take it from there.

To Visit Looking 4 Kin Genealogy Chat:
Click the Cenealogy Chat Room tab at the top of this page.
To Leave Looking 4 Kin Network:
1. Sign in to the Ning Network.
2. Click on the "Settings" link in the right hand column of the Main page.
3. On the My Settings page, you'll see a link to remove yourself and all of your content from the Network on the bottom of that page.
Can You Help Moderate
We would like at least one moderator for each group. Can you help out? Send me a message if so
What does being a admin or moderator mean?
1. You will keep an eye on the group making sure there are no non genealogy postings that should not be here, deleting them if you find one.
2. Ask for further information is the postings are vauge.
3. You will work towards making the group grow and active.
4. Helping us keep the page associated with this group on Looking 4 Kin Genealogy Links & Chat up to date with broken and new sites sent to me.

1940 USA Federal Population Census
The National Archives will release the 1940 Census on April 2, 2012. It will be available for online searching free of charge. The 1940 Census will not have a name index when it opens on April 2, 2012. In order to locate someone, you will need to know his or her address and the Census enumeration district in which that address was located.

2. Read the postings in the areas you know about and offer help where you can.
3. Tell your friends and fellow genealogists about us and invite them to join us in the Chat and Network.
