Archive CD Books GB

Below is a copy of an e mail I received a few days ago.

I have been away on holiday for a while, so have not previously had a chance to post this information .... but you still have time to submit an order if you hurry, as the site was still up and running as at 27 September 2007.

Rosey

ARCHIVE CD BOOKS GB CLOSING DOWN SALE
FINISHES THIS WEEK

As Rod Neep is retiring, Archive CD Books Ltd will cease trading and the company will be closed down. The company is not being sold. We expect the close to take place by 30th September 2007 (OR BEFORE!), after which the on-line catalogue and ordering will no longer be available. If you no longer see it there, then it will have finished, and we won't be taking any more orders.

The Archive CD Books Project

SPECIAL 50% DISCOUNT SALE ON ALL CDs
ONLY ON THE GB ARCHIVE CD BOOKS WEB SITE
SEE THE CATALOGUE HERE

The catalogue shows normal prices BUT when you check out, if the order value (excluding tax) is GBP £15 or more then the final amount will be discounted by a massive 50%

Flat rate postage of GBP £2.00 per order including overseas.

Any orders received by the time the shopping cart closes will be processed and posted during the following couple of weeks. All CDs are made to order. Because we expect to be busy making many more CDs than normal please be patient for your delivery. Please don't phone or email us. That just slows things down for everyone! If there is a problem, rest assured that we will contact you! We are already behind on CD making and posting due to the high demand. (There is a delivery status page at Current Order Delivery Status which will be updated regularly from Monday onwards).

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported me in this project over the years by buying our CDs. We started in March 2000, and now there are over 2,500 different family history interest CD titles on the catalogue. Its been a huge success, and I have had a lot of enjoyment from the project. However, the time has come for me to take retirement. I'll be playing more golf, taking some vacations, and in particular spending more time on our project helping kids in Kenya. A lot of you have been involved in that project too, so do please keep in touch with us, and visit our project site at Help Kenya Kids. We shall be donating at least GBP £5,000 from the proceeds of this closing down sale to the project fund, and Gay (my wife) and I will make our next visit to Kenya in mid October.

Best regards
Rod Neep

Washington State Digital Archives

From the Washington State Digital Archives

"Genealogy is the study of ancestry and family history. Anyone who is interested in finding out more about their family and where they came from will engage in genealogical research in some form or another.

A great source on immediate generations is family elders and stories that have been passed down. But as you go further back in family history, it becomes more difficult to rely on family oral histories. That is when the serious researcher turns to genealogical source documents that capture the evolving history of a family.

Among these important documents are marriage records, birth records, death records and census records. Many of these records can be found in the county or federal agency where the record was created, or as part of the collection on one of the branches of the Washington State Archives. The goal of the Washington State Digital Archives is to bring together, for the first time, a statewide comprehensive collection of the electronic records that capture this history, while preserving these records for future generations."
