Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
Would it be feaseable to allow Looking4Kin members to upload their family trees to this Looking4Kin website so that other members who might have a family connection can compare their information to what is uploaded?
I just uploaded my Gedcom to RootsWeb into their WorldConnect website and thought to ask this question here.
This Looking4Kin might be another great place for members to view others family trees.
What do y'all think?

Permalink Reply by Macdonab on February 25, 2013 at 2:52pm Sorry M, should have read further. Would it be possible to create a group just for the "Tree" pdf's.
May need to explain to members how to create a pdf too. Would help to create a "example". If everyone used the same general format it would make things a lot simpler.

Permalink Reply by Macdonab on February 25, 2013 at 2:48pm The more times a gedcom is uploaded to another site that allows user changes, the more issues there seems to be.
Perhaps an acceptable alternative would be to ask interested members to add the url's for their "tree's" to a file located here. File, or Excel sheet, could contain the url and a list of surnames.
Another option would be for each member to add the url to their tree in their profile.
There are always alternatives.

Permalink Reply by Just M on March 9, 2013 at 8:23am There is and always has been a question on sign up asking it one has a non profilt genelaogy site but I will change the wording to include / and or an online family tree.
If the site ever grows to where it is not an out of my pocket expense I will one day look at some way of doing this - but at the moment to allow uploads of gedcomsis not an option I can offer .
Thanks
M

After I asked this question, I realized what I was actually asking and that it would cause more "bandwidth" use by users. So I totally understand your reply. I certainly didn't intend to ask such a silly question. I do realize what monetary resources you put into your website here and am very respectful of it and grateful for it as a user to your site. Thank you for all that you do to make this site what it is for everyone. I apologize for my question.
