Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
Otto Sprockhoff died somewhere in Wisconsin on 25 Oct 1965. He moved to Wisconsin sometime after his wife's death in Lucca, North Dakota. She died in 1942. I have not found anything on him till his death. I would like to know where he is buried. I have looked on find-a-grave a few others but no luck yet.
Thank you

Permalink Reply by Colette on February 17, 2011 at 2:24pm I had this....In the school picture Jane Portiss is my grandmothers sister-in-law. Jane married her brother Walt Bantel.
My greatgrandparents are buried in the lucca cemetery and now the Sprockhoffs. Their sister Caroline and Bernard Reck and family went to St. Paul so still trying to find their burial spots and obits. Not in the Pioneer Press... :)

Permalink Reply by Colette on February 17, 2011 at 2:12pm YEAH!!!!! Lucca is Barnes County, Enderlin would either be the Enderlin City Cemetery or the Pontiac Cemetery....

Permalink Reply by Eliz on February 17, 2011 at 3:10pm Your more than welcome Colette, I know I have days with Ancestry where I want to beat the computer with a stick..I can't say I have a trick, I actually use several.. mostly I try to work backwards from the first Census I find them in..works sometimes, others pffft, like butting your head against a giant brick..
I do hope the calls reveal some answers.. the funeral home index is cheap enough like $2 so hopefully since they have the old records and will send copies.. I say go for it...in the meantime will try and dig out some more.
Glad I could help. :)
ps when we are looking for our own we so often get to focoused on one name and date,, unfortunately you need to be dispassonate about dates and sometimes places...i.e. 1900 ?? is born 1872, then next census says he's born 1874... that throws a lot of people off.. you have to be of a mind that ok census are just a guidepost, mostly I look for the kids if they have any.. you would be amazed how many times that works out.because 1900 he's David ?? 1910 he uses John his middle name.. it's like following a trail of bread crumbs and the birds beat you to a few..lol
