Permalink Reply by Geri Chubb on January 19, 2012 at 5:01am Ship records were not really kept than, So no immigration records were not kept. As you could pay the passage that all that mattered back than. If you can find an old family Bible that is how I knew my family came over in 1851 on the Sea Walrus.
Permalink Reply by Just M on January 19, 2012 at 9:05am Sad no death dates for any of the Muir people just their spouses as I was going to see what kind of obits I could come up with from Toronto paper
Permalink Reply by firefox on January 20, 2012 at 8:04am in 1901 she Hannah was with her parents William and Elizabeth Moor (Muir)
Permalink Reply by Just M on January 21, 2012 at 9:36am We also know Roy was back in Canada (If he ever left) when he enlisted 7 September 1914. The fact he puts his uncle as next of kin makes me wonder was his mother passed on by then? Even tho we think we have other marriages after that.

Permalink Reply by Geri Chubb on January 21, 2012 at 10:21am I tried to help John a long time ago. I have a long pdf file on the family. I am glad I kept it. Also off topic on this I found this might be of help re William Armstrong in Barrie Library.

Permalink Reply by Geri Chubb on January 21, 2012 at 10:14am Very possible that Roy's uncle raised him, not his mother. George Frederick Muir passed away in Toronto 31 Oct 1957, maybe some one could look up his orbit, and see what it says. Also there are a lot of Muir's in birth, death, marriage notices in newspapers in the Barrie Library. Roy's aunt Esther Anne Muir Riehl Moffatt passed in Toronto 31 Dec 1912, there might be an orbit for her. I truly believe that Hannah was married 4 times.
Permalink Reply by firefox on January 21, 2012 at 11:02am I believe that G F Muir raised my dad as hes listed as next of kin
And thank you for your help Still trying to remeber where I ran in to you
Permalink Reply by Just M on January 21, 2012 at 1:52pm George Muir Obit
Toronto Star Friday, November 1, 1957 Section News Page 36
He must have married twice? His one wife is listed as Mary Jane Martin and one son I found on a fast glance is Fredk Geo Octubas Muir
Has anyone checked Prospect Cemetery to see who all in the Muir family is buried there?
