Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
The Johnston brothers headed west from Ontario in the late 1800's. William came first in 1897 and settled in Medicine Hat - he worked for CPR and then had stock and ran a farm in Vauxall Alberta. Apparently William was married but do not know his wife's name and apparently they had no children but this is not confirmed. Born 1863, died 14 Dec 1929.
Hi brothers joined him later - not sure exactly but early 1900's. He stayed a few years and apparently drifted to Montana USA. Don't know anything else about him. Born 1859 D?
Archie came with James. He became the Chief of Police of Medicine Hat. He eventually moved to BC - not sure what he did there. He was married to Violet Darleng and they had no children. He was shot to death (murdered) during the day in his office. I cannot find any news of the shooter being caught or any trial. I do have a copy of the inquest report. Born 1882. Died 15 Feb 1930
Any additional information I can find on these brothers would be very helpful. They are my great uncles.
THANKS
