Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
Yanko/Janko/John Loncarevic was born about Oct 1888 in Austria or Hungary. However his tombstone in Harrisburg PA., dates listed are 1879-1927. He came to the US in 1905, Manifest records indicate he was from Gora//Gova either from Croatia/ Austria.Other records indicate he was from Hungary.
His Draft Card dated 9/12/1918 had his birth as 10/8/1888 in Austria. Nearest relative was A/Jelica Loncarevic located in Gora/Gorvas, Austria.
The 1920 Federal Census shows him immigrating in 1905 from Croatia. His parents were listed as Mato Loncarevic and Mary Mijokovic.
I have been researching my family since 1994. I am still at a loss for Yanko. Can anyone help me in what direction I can pursue to find my mother side of the family? Any help will be greatly appreciated...Dave

Permalink Reply by Eliz on March 2, 2012 at 4:17pm If he was from Austro-Hungarian Empire, most likely his last name would have been spelled
Loncarevich or some +/- letters.. problem is we can't narrow down his exact Place..village..
Would have been great if someone had saved his passport.. those has exact place of Birth(Village)
my fathers did which was how I tracked his family to Nograd.
there are Hungarian records at
but a quick scan I didn't see him in online rec.
there are films that can be ordered but you need a region..
also did he ever file for Naturalization?
