I have quite a number of North Beds parish records transcripts up to 1812 If anyone needs details. The majority of baptisms & marriages are on the IGI but these PRs may provide additional info.

Please start a new discussion if you need a lookup.

 cheers John

Hi John
I am always looking out for any Dilley/Dilly info you may have for my one name study.
Regards Jane
Hi Jane

I did some Dilley research a couple of months ago on the Wilstead branch for someone in Australia. The result is on an Ancestry tree "DILLEY from Wilshamstead and St Neots". I also did a bit of work on the Southill branch but gave up as I couldn't disentangle them, notwithstanding purchasing wills. I have a few Dilleys in my tree, who married into my main lines in Southill, Henlow and Clifton (I might have a couple in Arlesey too).

I'll happily send you what I've got

David
Hello John

Any help would be great. You are right, there are quite a few born within a year or two of each other, all given the same names. I'm afraid my ancestors were not very imaginative and clearly probably too closely related!!

Where can i find info on any wills they have left as i am happy to buy the wills to hopefully, help unravel things?

Regards Jane
Hi Jane

I'm David, the good looking one, not John (who's also good looking)!

My block in Southill is with two Johns who each married a Sarah, and whilst I think I've managed to separate them I don't know where either was from.. I have the will of John dated 19 Apr 1803, and I'm happy to send you a transcription, and a report on what else I've unearthed. If there's provision here to send personal messages I'll send you my email address

Which Dill(e)y branch are you from?

David
My apologies David,

My direct line is through John Dilly & Dorcas Gopps(Goops), down through Thomas & Elizabeth Barber. Like you say, they are difficult to seperate and i'm still not 100% sure i have the right marriages with each.
I am still working from the census, IGI etc.
One day i will have the time available to go to Bedford and look at the parish records, MIs etc.

My email is janeblewis@googlemail.com if that helps.
Regards
Jane
Let's continue on the Dilley group, which I've just discovered!
Hello Jane, I'm just getting the hang of this forum. What Beds parish(es) do your Dillys come from ? OK from the IGI I see John Dilly & Dorcas married at Campton in 1691. Sorry I do not have the PRs for that area. My interest is in the north-west corner of Bed, I have the PRs for around 16 parishes. Note that the Beds FHS have just put the Campton-with-Shefford Monumental Incriptions into the library - I will take a look at them next meeting (Jan 8th)

& ... hello David - I guessed you'd see my link to this site on FaceBook

see you around

cheers John
What parishes I hear you ask...

Sharnbrook, Bletsoe, Thurleigh, Riseley, Felmersham, Milton Ernest, Pavenham, Souldrop, Knotting, Odell, Keysoe, Bolnhurst, Carlton, Chellington, Podington, Little Staughton..

.. more may follow... any requests? ha !
Mine complement John's quite nicely:

Arlesey; Biggleswade; Cardington; Clifton; Colmworth; Cople; Everton; Great Barford; Haynes; Henlow; Husborne Crawley; Kempston; Langford; Maulden; Northill; Old Warden; Southill; Stotfold

And to repeat, these only go up to 1812

I'm sitting here, fiche and 20x magnifying glass in hand, waiting to be bombarded!

David
.... plus access to a number of Bedfordshire Historical Record Society publications such as the Beds Muster Lists, Hearth Tax returns, Cardington 1782 Census, Samuel Whitbread's notebook, Edward Arpin of Felmersham's diary, .... & much more..
Hi
I think my Dilley/Dilly people are from most of the parishes you list being Arlesey; Biggleswade; Cardington; Clifton; Colmworth; Cople; Langford; Old Warden; Southill and Meppershall also.
I am trying to collate all the available info, so if any appears under your magnifying glass during an idle moment, you could always jot it down for me. LOL
For a scattergun approach you're probably better going through the IGI first to extract all the Dilleys, then if you need to know if there's any additional information on specific entries post a query. Burials are a different matter, but there might be another, easier, way of doing that, which I'll work on and let you know what happens.

David
