I am researching the names HARMAN, READ AND MULBERRY from the Melbourn and Whaddon areas, until mid 1850s when they headed to Australia.

Joseph HARMAN was born in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire in 1804 and his parents were James HARMAN and Keiza HALL. He was a boot maker.

Joseph married Sarah MULBERRY (1800-1880) (f: Jonathan MULBERRY m: Ellen WAYMAN) in 1827 in Melbourn. They had 13 known children:

James - 1827

Mary Ann - 1829

James - 1830

Alfred - 1833

George - 1835

Jonathan - 1837

Reuben - 1840

Arthur - 1842

Sarah - 1844

Walt - 1845

Ann - 1848

Elizabeth Betsey - 1849

Alfred Winslow - 1852

All born in Melbourn.

My ggg grandfather James HARMAN (b 1830) married Susan (Suzanna) READ/REED (1830 f: William READ m: Mary WAYMENT) in 1852. Susan was from Whaddon.

They immigrated to Australia in 1852 to Portland.

Joseph and Sarah HARMAN also immigrated to Australia in 1853 as well as their children George, Jonathan, Sarah, Reuben and Alfred Winslow. Their remaining children appeared to have died prior to their move except Mary Ann who married a John LOATS.

The Harmans became a well known pioneering family of the Byaduk area in Victoria's Western District.
