Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
I have been trying to trace the birth and death of my Henry Howitt.
What I know of him is that he was born c 1838 in Jamacia and was a British subject. His fathers name was Samuel Howitt born Grantham England. Henry was in the 84th Regiment and was a Drum Major. He married Mary Ann Lee 1861 in Manchester and I have found 4 children to them..his last born son was John Thomas Howitt in b 1870 in Halifax Nova Scotia..
I think he must have died sometime around this and before 1875 when I found his first born son Samuel's death in the union work house in Salford England where it stated Father deceased on the death certificate.
I have so far been unable to find either his birth or death or any army records and would appreciate anyone help or advice on how to find these records..
Thanks in advance
Deb

Do you think that he could have stayed in Nova Scotia and died there? I found a load of people from my son's grandfather side through the link below, only found 4 Howitt deaths and 1 birth, don't know if any of them would be connected to you but maybe you might want to check it out.
