Hi, I am trying to find out more about my Mum's fathers side of the family. He was Arthur Burnett Curtis born 1914.

He served in the Canadian Air Force in WW2, we believe he died in 1988, in Tillsonburg, Ontario, he was married before he married my nan in 1941 and had a son, he then married again after and had a daughter, who we believe lived in Calgary around 1988.

I think I have found his father, and his parents, but being new to this am not sure!

If anyone can give me any information at all on any of this family I would be most grateful. I have searched for his birth and death certificates, and marriage certificates and can only find the one where he married my nan, and we have the original for that!!

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sandra

Thanks Donna, I hadn't noticed that about the date, thanks for pointing that out!! Look forward to the next instalment in my family history!
Hi Sandra:

I don't know if you remember me but I attempted to help you found info out on Arthur Curtis. I have a file I keep for followups when I try to help someone and the letter I received from the Library and Archives Canada is in it, its dated March 4/10 and indicates that they are experiencing a delay and it could take up to 7 months before they reply, I may have sent you a message on that. Its not 7 months yet however I decided to send them a letter to followup letting them know that we are still interested in finding info out on Arthur maybe this letter might get them to pull out my request and we could get a reply sooner. I just wanted to let you know I havn't forgot you and will past the info along as soon as I get it. If you like I would be happy to send you a copy of the reply letter from them, if I havn't already they have provided a file number.

Hi Donna,

I do remember you! I was keeping an eye on the months to see how long it had been, thanks for writing to them again. It will be very interesting to know a bit more about him.

Thanks again, hopefully we don't have to wait much longer!

Sandra
Its me again Sandra, WOW these documents are great they provide a lot of info on him he seems to change his info alot but there is a address for two wives one in Canada and one in the UK and a address for his mother in the US, mention of martial problems and at least 3 children one boy and twin girls who were 13 in 1953, you would benefit by getting a note pad and reading the documents over and note dates and names and addresses on one part in tiny print there is mention of the twin girls and the wifes name, the girls names were Jill and Patricia. There is at least two wives mentioned and his mother, there is a address for his mother in the US, one wife Hulda a nurse from Vancouver last address listed in Sask, Canada and another one looks like Sylvia Francis Curtis from Kent, England who appears to be the mother of the twin girls. I thought I would provide you with a little info for now, I'm almost feel like I'm snooping on him haha. The docs are not in order but are very interesting. I'm wait to hear from you.

Hello again Sandra, I finally got the service records for Arthur, I know it took a long time but they have provided a lot of info, they didn't send an invoice with the doucments so thats nice if there was a charge they would have sent an invoice with it. I'm very impress with all the info they provide on Alfred I'm not sure just how much you will get to know him by the documents, in the letter they sent with it they indicate that they have removed any personal informaton concerning other individuals from the documents they sent which I wasn't too pleased about since if he did mention a family it might not be here now if they removed it. There is about 30 pages or more I would guess, it will take some time to scan, I can mail it to you if you like I don't mind and it might be better than only a scanned copy. You can e-mail me at donna.borden@hotmail.com with your e-mail address to send the scan copy or your home address so I can mail it out. I'll read it now and let you know if there is anything about family in there. I just got in from work and wanted to let you know right away that I got it.

Hi Donna,

That's fantastic! My mum is one of the twins Patricia, and her mum was Sylvia.

As for the boy, well he is younger than them so the ages are out but could still be him.

Interesting about Hulda, that would be one of the Canadian wives we knew about already then, but we thought he married again after my Nan, I wonder if that would be some of the info taken out? I know that here you have to be related to the person to get the full records so that may be why they have removed some stuff.

I'll send you an email later, to sort out getting the docs and what we will owe you for postage, thanks again Donna.
Hi Sandra: There was another wife from the US surname MacDonald if I'm recalling correctly I don't have the document with me, I wish I could have found documents like this for my grandfather if would fill in a lot of blanks. Its like a treasure hunt haha you just got to read it over a couple of times and you might be able to figure him out. One thing I can figure out is that your mother doesn't ever have to worry that it was anything her mother and she did to make him leave once you read over these documents you will see that he was just a man that couldn't stay in one place. Donna
Sandra, my name is Bobbie and my mothers name is Hulda. I see you are looking for information on Arthur Curtis as am I. I found this forum by accident and was thrilled. This is the first time I have found anything about him. If you see this and are interested in contacting me please email me at bobbiehofer@shaw.ca. I am very interested in finding out if I have any half brothers or sisters and what family I may have that I know nothing about. I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, Bobbie Hofer

OMG I'm so excited for you Sandra, I know how hard you have been looking.  I hope both you and Bobbie can make a connection and figure Arthur Curtis out together. Good Luck to you both.
