In my research i have traced my family back to Devonshire in 1500 from a census it just says ratchford 1500 head of house hold dont know where to go from there any sugestions on what my next move should be ?  what would head of household meant back then to?

Which census are you referring to and where did you find it?

I imagine head of household then meant much the same as it would today

What was the full name of your ancestor, and who were his wife and children?
