William CUMMINGS was born circa 1760 in Malew Isle of Man.  He was a soldier in the 88th Regiment of Foot.  In 1788 he married Mary Ann OATES of Bradden, Isle of Man.  She was born in Bradden in 1760, child of James OATES and Elizabeth nee MOORE.  Their child James John was born in 1788 in Bradden.

William is a younger son of John CUMMINGS, Captain in the 8th West Indian Regiment. William's brother John was born in Hampshire (Military base) and also joined the military, it seems to have been a family thing.

John Senor's wife Elizabeth appears to have been born in Isle of Man so it looks as though they hailed from there.  The men seem to have regularly visited Lancaster leaving the women on the island, plus the soldiers were off in Hampshire a lot.

If anyone has examined military movements around Isle of Man I'd be interested to learn of it.  Trying to find a home base for my Cummings family.
