Thomas Aylett is my maternal great *5 grandfather.

I cannot find details re his parents (perhaps named Thomas and Suzanna based on vague info from other sites). His siblings may be William born 1788, Sarah born 1792, John born 1793, Henry born 1786 all born in Ospringe, Faversham area. I have found no birth records for Thomas in Faversham area

I also cannot locate his wife (who must have died before 1841 census).

His children included Edward born 1820 Ospringe, Caroline born 1824, Thomas, Henry, James and Richard

I can provide more info re his family/descendents

I found Thomas born 1790 living with his daughter Caroline in 1841 Census.

Edward b 1820 is my direct descendent.

Have you had a good look at  familysearch.org. When you open it you will find the baptism for your Thomas Aylett and you will also find baptisms for the siblings you mentioned. This is under English births. If you go to English marriages you will find the marriage of Thomas Aylett To Susanna Topley on 4 July 1785 in Saint Matthew, Bethnal Green, London, England. These have recently been added from the new transcriptions that are taking place from familysearch.org when the page comes up you will see the film number that this transcription is from and then be able to actually bring in the film for first hand proof. I hope this will help you out. Good luck with your research.

Thank you for information.

I had not accessed familysearch.org after my initial searches of multiple sites

Hopefully I can now start to link with other Aylett research

Were you able to find any other information on Thomas Aylett? He is also my 5th great grandfather. His son Thomas is my 4th Great grandfather.

I have not found out any more - Other contacts have questioned the marriage to Suzanna Topley as suggested by info received below:

There was a Thomas Aylett who skippered a boat to London - most of our Ayletts worked on land.

I live in Canada and do not have easy access to local Kent records

If you fund out more I would be interested as there is a chance we could find a link to Ayletts from Essex area who migrated to Kent in 1700s. There are folks who are conducting DNA tests on various Ayletts to establish this link.

Interesting. I am in the US. Wish there was more information available. I'll let you know if I come across a breakthough

Curious on how we may be related. Here is how I am related to him

Thomas Aylett (1790 - 1848)
is your 4th great grandfather
Son of Thomas
Son of John
Son of Samuel
Son of Frederick Samuel
Son of Gordon Albert
Also we have a group on facebook called AYLETT INTERNATIONAL

I have not progressed further with my research - I seem to have hit a dead end.

Thomas is indeed my gggg grandfather and my line is via his son, William b 1820

Have you found anything regarding Thomas's wife or parents?

(I did not find AYLETT INTERNATIONAL on facebook)

http://www.facebook.com/groups/AYLETTINTERNATIONAL

I am wondering if we have the same Thomas. You have his children as

Edward born 1820 Ospringe, Caroline born 1824, Thomas, Henry, James and Richard

and his siblings as: William born 1788, Sarah born 1792, John born 1793, Henry born 1786 all born in Ospringe, Faversham area.

What I have for Thomas is only a son John (1813 - 1892)

and possibly same siblings.

Thomas c. 25 Jul 1790 Faversham, Kent, England  (not confirmed)

and a 1848 death registry, England GRO index

Also I found on https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JC1J-1MD

This would be his father possibly. But notice the spelling of the name. Ayleft. Maybe a typo, but there are some Ayleft's if you google it. Could also

cause confusion with dates if he isn't.

It would take a lot to convince me that the 1785 marriage in Bethnal Green Middlesex is the same couple who baptised children in Faversham, 50+ miles away

David, I agree and have found no evidence to this link with this Aylett - the claim made by others was that one of the Kent Ayletts was in shipping and shipped amunition from Faversham to London.

The Thomas I have appears in 1841 Census living with his children in Ospringe Liberty. I did find some baptism records that seemed to confirm this family

His son,  William (my line), was in service by that time.

I could not confirm death - see below
