Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
Hi,
I have ancestors Robert BRIERS b 1819 in Narborough, Leicestershire to Robert BRIERS and Susannah KNIGHT. Robert BRIERS senior is the son of Robert BRIERS and Ann.
Susannah KNIGHT was born 1775 christened in Narborough, child of William KNIGHT and Sarah.
I have several children for Robert and Susannah. Robert Snr I havne't found much on.
Also Lydia JELLEY b (or christened?) 06 Apr 1824 daughter of William JELLEY and Lydia SMEETON, married 14 Nov 1821 in King's Norton, Leicestershire. They lived at Little Stretton. Lydia was a housemaid.
William JELLEY b 1796 to John JELLEY and Mary, I think in Stretton Parva.
No information on Lydia SMEETON yet, but the name seems to be local to the Stretton Parva region.
Anyone have these names in their research?
Irene

Permalink Reply by larzus on April 28, 2012 at 4:59am Just to add to my former post, I'm now following and sorting the Briers family through their long involvement with the textile industry in Leicester.
New names which seem to have longstanding connection with the family:
HARDY and COULSON.
Across several generations they lived in the same streets, intermarried, visited each other on census night and had the same occupations (usually frame work knitter or shoe finisher). Anyone with these names in the districts of Leicester, St Margarets, Blaby, Huncote and Belgrave are sure to have connected with my Briers family. Would be glad to hear of any.
Thank you,
Irene
