Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
Hi,
I am tracing a family of Dilley born in Hoxton. However, in 1891 census there were two Dilley families living at the same address of 42 Church Street, Bethnal Green.
Both had a mother named Elizabeth. Both had an Albert aged 17/18.
Both had a John aged 10/11.
All children of both families were born in Hoxton.
I cannot find either family in earlier census returns.
Can anyone help me separate these two families and find out which Dilley each Elizabeth married?

Permalink Reply by Jane Lewis (nee Dilley) on March 30, 2010 at 11:34am I am also very confused.
On that same 1881 census, they have a William Girntin living with them. This is actually William Gunton who marries Maria Dilley later in 1881. She also names her father as James Dilley - waiter on the marriage certificate.
Very strange.
