Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
I know that Rice is a lot like Smith when it comes to Louth, however I have this much:
Rice, Patrick (b1830-dxxxx) married Ellen _____
they had, among others-
Rice, Owen (b1869-d1944) married Duffy, Mary (b1867-dxxxx)
they had, among others,
Rice, Mary Ann aka Minnie (as it appears on her passport!) (b1899-d1986)
she married Connolly, Thomas and they are my grandparents.
The Rice farm is in Ballinteskin, Carlingford, Louth, Ireland. My grandmother Minnie left her home country after an apparent tragedy, she saw two of her brothers die during the week following Bloody Sunday of 1920 although details are sketchy. She never went back, kept in contact with only one sister for many years, but even that ended. Any information of the clan would be greatly appreciated.

I have some information that may be helpful to you. If you go to www.census.nationalarchives.ie you will get access to the 1901 and 1911 Irish Census. Then go to Search Census.Change Census year to 1901.Enter Rice under Surname and Owen under Forename and scroll to Louth for County. Click search and then in search results click Owen Rice,Ballinteskin and his family will come up. You can see Mary there at two years of age. Do the same for the 1911 Census and you will see Mary now called Minnie. Hope this is helful.
