My Swedish ancestors, (My Maternal Great Grandparents) who came to the USA were John Leonard Irén and wife Maria Petronella Åkerlund Irén along with their first born son Olof Albert Irén, aboard the SS Britannic, and landed at port of NY, Ellis Island 9 July 1892.  After that they made their way to Mora and Comfort TWP, Kanabec County, MN where they made their lives there and had many more children.

Among their known 12 children were: (* Note that the Irén name was Americanized into IRENE)

Olof Albert Irene, Emily Irene, Albert Julius Irene (My Maternal Grandfather), Elsie Amelia Irene, Gladys Irene, Anna Elida Irene, Theresa Mary Irene, Sally (aka Selma Lenora) Irene, Johan (John) Bernhard Irene, Allen Irene, Helen Elvera Irene, Eleanore Irene.

I know that this big farm family lived on their family farm located in Mora, MN and that a portion of that farm still exists.  An in-law named Emil Strombeck married Anna Irene and they passed the farm down to their son Lowell who I believe still lives on the farm.

If there is anyone who knows anything about the IRENE family name from Mora. Comfort TWP, Kanabec County, MN, I would love to hear from you.

What specifically are you looking for? Have you checked the Ancestry Trees, there are several.

Eliz,

Well, I am just trying to find any information regarding John Leonard Irén and wife Maria Petronella Åkerlund Irén when they lived on their farm in Comfort TWP, Kanabec County, MN.  But I suppose that kind of information isn't really in any records but probably "word of mouth".

What "Ancestry Trees" are you referring to?  If they are on this looking4kin.com, could you please tell me where to find them?

Thank you.

the Trees are at

Ancestry.com

Eliz, when I had a worldwide membership in ancestry.com I had access to look for just about anything I could find there for the Iren/Irene family name.  Plus, while a member I had saved all that I found relevant for my family.  But I am no longer a member and now I continue to search free sources wherever I can find them online or I send off through "pony express" mail to get answers wherever.

perhaps we can find some info on them via newspapers

Eliz,

I am uncertain as to who these names are and their relationship to John L Irene.  I am thinking that Gladys and Allen are possibly two of his children.  But Marie Elvera Irene, I have no idea who they are.

In the 1905 census the last name was spelled "Iriens"

will ck the newspapers for more info

Eliz, thank you so much for this 1905 census info...I went and found it at familysearch.com and added it to my family info.
