I am looking for the parents of Robert R. Andrews born 1872 Belfast Ireland that moved to New Jersey with his family prior 1913. His wife Wilhelmina MacFarland was born in Scotland and died in New Jersey in 1913 of childbirth. There daughter my great grandmother Roberta used to say they were related to Thomas Andrews that designed the Titanic but I cannot find that connection.

Thank You,

Donna

Liz,

Thanks so much for the reply. It is the correct family. I do know he was a ship builder. I would like to know more about his children. Roberta was my great grandmother and I knew her so some of what I have comes from her. As she aged she developed dementia and Alzheimer's so my Uncle and I are taking everything she did say with a grain of salt. Margaret died at 18 from the flu, Ernest son is now a NJ Representative and Wilhelmina "Mina" moved to Florida. Now I am working backwards on Robert and Wilhelmina. I know he came from Ireland and her from Scotland and have up to their 2nd great grandparents. I would really love to find if there is any connection between Robert and Thomas Andrews that built the Titanic.

Thanks Again,

Donna

I went on a look see for Thomas Andrews:

Thomas Andrews was born at Ardara House, Comber, County Down, part of the Province of Ulster in Ireland, to The Rt. Hon. Thomas Andrews, a member of the Privy Council of Ireland, and Eliza Pirrie. The younger brother of John Miller Andrews, the future Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, Thomas Andrews lived with his family in Ardara, Comber. In 1884, Andrews began attending the Royal Belfast Academical Institution until 1889 when, at the age of sixteen, he began a premium apprenticeship at Harland and Wolff where his uncle, the Viscount Pirrie, was part owner.

so what we have to try and do is  take a look at the Grandfathers you have in Ireland...

names, dates and where...then see if their connected in anyway to Thomas' family

Several trees have these as his siblings:

John Miller Andrews
1871 – 1956
Eliza Montgomery Andrews
1874 –
James Andrews
1877 –
William Andrews
1886 –

that being said I still need your Grandparents names, male and female and any possible dates.
