Nova Scotia Civil Registration Information
The Vital Statistics Division of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations is responsible for registration of vital events of birth, death, marriage and stillbirth which occur in the province of Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia is the first province in Canada to digitize all of its Historical Vital Statistics and make them available online in a fully searchable database.When you enter novascotiagenealogy.com, you’ll find a fully searchable database containing one million names. Every name is linked to its original record, which will be within one of the following record groups:
- Births 1864-1877
- Delayed Births 1836-1908
- Marriages - Bonds 1763-1864
- Marriages - Registrations 1864-1933
- Deaths 1864-1877 and 1908-1958
You will be able to view the actual record in digitized form, and by using the Viewpoint® plug-in that they have provided, you'll also be able to read every detail entered on the original registration.
