Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
I am looking for Hannah death records. She was born 1875 father was William Muir mother Elizabeth Dyer. She was married at least 4 times. Her last marriage was to William Henry Armstrong born 1881 Ireland. They where married in 1924 York co. I found William getting re married to a Fern Mather born 1892 usa in 1927. So Hannah could have died in Simcoe or York or Wentworth co.

We have some who have letters, some who have obits, some who have marriages, some who have deaths. If everyone had all the information maybe the wall could be knocked down but at this point it seems like everyone is keeping a bit just to themselves.

I wonder if you guys have tried contacting any of the cousins on the Muir family. Now that we are finding names for the children of the siblings that would be something to try if you have npt done so yet. You now have the names of 4 kids from Georges family and 9 from Thomas Henrys family

There were like 9 or 10 pages
It is nice to see what has been tried so people are not repeating things.

These are Hannah's parents obits. In her mothers it shows she was Mrs Powell
Northern Advantage 28 of April 1904.
So the 5 kids are only alive in when William Muir passed away.
Way more kids of Mrs. Muirs alive 3 years later
From the Northern Advance Aug. 15,1907 pg.1
Permalink Reply by Just M on March 11, 2012 at 9:58am It had been discussed that she was alive and visited with her son Roy in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1926.
Had she been living there or was she visiting only?
I was unable to find her crossing the border

Permalink Reply by Janet on March 11, 2012 at 11:48am This isn't right. What we know for certain is that Hannah (also called Ida) was last known to be in Atlantic City, NJ. I have a photo of her with the date 1926 and Atlantic City written on it. Family have said that she was living there, and that Roy and Lillian stopped to visit her on their way to Floriday which was in 1922. That doesn't really track if she married William Armstrong in 1924. It may be they stopped to see her.... in Canada on their way to FL and that she later went to NJ.?? Does anyone have access to death records in Atlantic City in 1926? I think that is the place to look. Newspaper articles? I also am just not sure which name to look under.... Muir or Armstrong. She seemed to make a lot of changes. And what happened to her husband, Powell? Hannah is such a mystery to me! Roy married in Toronto in 1919 and then moved to Miami, was there in 1923. I know for sure he was there in May 1923 (newspaper article of him being lost for 3 days in a boat) My father , son of Roy and Lillian was born in Miami Nov. 1923.
I also believe (this is a guess) that Roy and Lillian had a baby (toddler) who died sometime around their move to FL. There are pictures of them in 1922 with Hannah (unknown location... somewhere in the north and late fall, winter, early spring) and Lillian is holding a baby of about 1 year in age. I never heard what happened to this child, but it was not my father. I have tried looking in Miami for obits, newspaper articles, but have found nothing. Any thoughts?

Permalink Reply by Janet on March 11, 2012 at 5:07pm Sorry... I was replying to M's message that said Hannah was visiting Roy in Atlantic City. Roy did not live there. The story from my Dad and his brother years ago was that Hannah lived in Atlantic City and that Roy and Lillian had stopped to visit her in Atlantic City on their way from Toronto to Miami in 1922. I know they visited her from pictures that I have dated at that time, I just don't know if the picture was taken in Atlantic City. If Hannah was living there, how is it that she married William Armstrong in Toronto in 1924? Yet she was in Atlantic City in 1926 from a picture I have of her from there. Is that more clear?
Permalink Reply by Just M on March 11, 2012 at 5:32pm I did not say Roy lived there I stated that she had visited with Roy there and you have stated the same thing

Unless I am reading that wrong Roy and Hannah visited in NJ in 1926 ?
