Permalink Reply by JoAnn Adele on March 26, 2012 at 3:16pm I found Sebastian Fettick in the Simcoe County Probate and Surrogate Records. He died 12 June 1928, a retired engineer and resident of the village of Hillsdale. The probate number is P13090 on 23 Aug 1928. I have ordered the microfilm and will let you know when it comes in.

Permalink Reply by fronkfam on March 26, 2012 at 6:01pm I realize now why I missed it. Sebastian's last name was transcribed as Feltick instead of Fettick.
Thanks again.
Permalink Reply by JoAnn Adele on March 26, 2012 at 6:17pm No. there was no charge to order it. It will arrive when it is available, which could be 10 days or maybe 4 weeks. I will let you know.
Did you find their marriage record? 03 Nov 1879 in Wyebridge-gives their parents names.

Permalink Reply by fronkfam on March 26, 2012 at 7:24pm I have seen the marriage info on Ancestry.com, but only the date and place. I haven't seen an image that lists their parents.
Permalink Reply by JoAnn Adele on March 26, 2012 at 8:14pm Mary Soden's parents were William Soden and Eliza Rutherford. Sebastian's parents were Valentine Fettick, mistranscribed as Fetdict, and Helary Fetdict. I think her name was probably Helena and it was mistranscribed as well.
Sebastian was listed as a merchant, resident of Hillsdale, but born in Germany. Mary was a resident of Tay twp, but born in Medonte twp. The witnesses were W H Soden, probably Mary's brother, William Henry, and Isabella Rowett of Flos twp. they were both listed as presbyterian, although earlier records showed Sebastian as Roman Catholic, and Mary's family was Church of England.
Census records show that William Soden was born about 1823 in Ireland and Eliza was born in St Helena, Ireland about 1825. They arrived in Ontario about 1853, between the births of John in 1852 in Ireland and Wm Henry in 1854 in Medonte. the last census I found for them was 1891.
I found an 1861 census for the Fettick family in Norwich, Oxford county, and two more for Sebastian and Mary in the USA for 1900 and 1910. Sebastian was listed as a Steam Engineer in 1900 and a "plummer" in 1910. Do you have these census records?
