Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
Hello,
I'm trying to find lost cousins for a female friend of my son. She would love to know why she's a redhead and has heard it comes from this lost side.
I don't know a lot, but maybe someone has some further hints for me! Her grandmother was G. MACK (still living, so won't use first name) born 1947, Toronto to John Edward MACK and Marcia Elizabeth TEMPLETON. I understand that John Edward MACK's mother was Dutch, possibly Jewish, with the unusual surname of VON KOVENHOVEN. Somewhere in there is the name CARPENTER too, but supposedly it was French and originally CHARPENTIER/CARPENTIER at one time.
Not much to go on, but I told her I'd try. I've got hits with less before! Thank you.
Mary

Thanks for your quick reply. I know no more than this. Very bare info. I know, but this comes from my son's 20 year old friend via her mother. They have never taken a stab at family tree before, so I'm just throwing what they have out there to see what might result.
I started genealogy with my husband's paternal side. His father was long dead and all his mother knew was that he had lived with an Aunt Susie and an Uncle Russell near Arnprior and that they had visited someone's grave in Woodlawn in that area, mother's last name was Carr. So I know the whole picture can emerge even with the smallest handful of clues, in time. I once found a cousin of my mother's known only by a nickname 'Dolly' Johnston who had married an unknown WW1 soldier and moved to New Zealand!
I wish I had more to tell you. I will let you know if any more clues for the mystery pop up. :)
Mary
