Permalink Reply by firefox on March 27, 2011 at 9:44pm My dad is Roy Armstrong son of John Armstrong and Hannah Muir
His half bother is Roy Armstrong son of John Armstrong and Mary Lacourt of Wisconsin
Permalink Reply by firefox on March 28, 2011 at 11:55am I believe he's in a lumber camp with his Uncle Fredrick Muir . That's where John Thomas Armstrong worked. His love letters said John worked with his bother in law Fredrick. When John left might have left dad in care of Fredrick and on his in listment papers list Fredrick Muir as next of kin I have no proof of this but that letter

The Armstrongs and the Muirs lived in Minesing, Ontario. The family story was that John and Hannah (Ida) were not married; the guess is that they were not married when she became pregnant with their son, ROY who was born March 29, 1895 but married just before or just after his birth. John was killed in a lumbering accident at Frank's Bay when Roy was a baby. John was working for the Smith lumbering company at the time of his death. Roy married Clara Lillian HARVEY in about 1922. It is thought that William and Margaret did come to Ontario from Ireland, but it is not known from when or where they came. Does anyone have any info on William and Margaret?

I guess this shows why family stories need to be taken with a grain of salt
If he ever did work there here is a bit of hitory on the mine http://www.pastforward.ca/perspectives/Jan_52001.htm
It sure goes to show how much false info is online - that was only reason I posted that posting I found online. And people just copy it for truth sometimes.
Permalink Reply by firefox on January 18, 2012 at 8:30am John Thomas Armstrong is G.F. Muir 's botherinlaw and Roy is G.F. Muir's nephew
Permalink Reply by Just M on January 17, 2012 at 9:59pm Was GF Muir not who Roy was with in 1901 census (Hannah's brother or Roy's uncle). I know he was with the Muir family.
