Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
I am researching two families.
The Herberts
Originated with John Herbert b. 1788 d. 1881 who emigrated to Canada from Ballyduff Ireland, was active in the Fenian movement in Canada. Married Bridget Delaney of County Laois Ireland ( 1837 ? ) in Basilique Notre Dame, Montreal Quebec. They owned a farm in St. Jerome Canada and then moved to Holyoke Massacahusetts with their children. John Herbert's family in Ireland rented land from a woman neamed Mae Ponsaby, also looking for information on her. One of their sons, James Herbert, married Sophia Hicks.
The Hicks
Sophia Hicks, daughter of Antoine ( Anthony ) b. 1802 somewhere in Canada d. between 1880 & 1890 in Massachusetts and Angeline Hicks b. abt. 1811, d. between 1860 & 1880 unknown location. Both Antoine and Angeline were born in Canada, emigrated to Clinton New York in 1844. Two of their daughters ( Mary and Lucy ) died in the Precious Blood Church fire of 1875 in Holyoke Massachusetts.
