Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
I wonder if anyone can help me to decipher what a name is on a birth registration form. It reads that the birth mother's married name is Agnes Campbell, then the maiden name is written MS Nicol.....and there's my problem. If MS is the first 2 intials what happened to the name Agnes? It is done in cursive writing and since both letters are the same size I don't think it is Mc.
Any suggestions? Thank you, in advance, for any help you may have to offer.

Thanks for responding. I asked Vital Statistics their opinion and they wrote they "think it is Miss/Ms Nicol". I didn't think they used that in the 1920s....but who knows! I will upload a copy of the certificate and would certainly appreciate your opinion.

Permalink Reply by Ellen on February 6, 2013 at 2:28pm Hi, went to chat and just missed you. Good to know you've seen it used before, makes me feel much more confident to use it as a title and not initials. Thanks again for your help.
