Trying to sort out several things about this couple.
She, Jane/Jean L Morison, was a nurse in Scotland and travelled out to South Africa at some time before her marriage to Richard White. (She was born about 1872 in Scotland).
They had a daughter - Helen (aka Nell/Nellie) in 1899 and returned to the UK in the spring of 1907, when Jane/Jean was 8 months pregnant with twins. (One baby lived, one died soon after birth.)
What I'm trying to ascertain is: -
When did Jane/Jean go out to South Africa - and was that with a group from a hospital (in Edinburgh?) or with a troop ship?
Was Richard White a South African by birth?
Or, was he British by birth and was in South Africa on his own account or with a firm? (On the birth registration for the twins he says he's a 'speculator'.)
By the 1911 Census the family have moved to live in Co. Armagh.
Any suggestions most gratefully received. I'm grey already and losing some of my hair - this is accelerating the process - rapidly!
