I entered "Pain" in the surname box on

and one possibility appeared:
PAINE Thomas (marine), William (crew) arrived 1836-12-24 on HMS Buffalo from
Portsmouth 1836-07-13 v Spithead 07-23, St Helens 08-03,
Rio de Janeiro 1836-10-12 [Source:6,7,23(1)]

Cancel that suggestion.
When I looked more closely, using
http://www.familyhistorysa.info/passengers-marriages-burials.html
it seemed likely that the Thomas Paine who was on Governor Hindmarsh's ship
died in 1838, buried in West Terrace Cemetery.
Could your Thomas have been a widower when he married Bridget?

Do not know??? My Thomas Pain died in Cunnumulla  QLD at Bowra stn 1882 aged 67yrs....wife Bridget Egan born 1831 died Menindee NSW 1864. SO maybe the Sailor I'm asking about not even mine!!!!!

Also found a police constable Thomas Payne joined Adelaide SA 14th Jan 1851 resigned 1852. Maybe he was my man???

maybe he is your Thomas he was only a police officer for 1 year so maybe he did this as well
