Hello!
I am hoping someone can help me get information on two of my Swedish ancestors. Their names are:
Johan Jakob Andersson b. 1841 in Skallerud Alvsborg Sweden his wife's name is Laura Charlotta Andersdotter (or Gustafsson???), born 1-13-1846 in Tydje Alvsborg Sweden.
They had 5 children:
Anna Maja b. 1868
Gustaf Georg b. 1870
Emma Ingeborg Kristina b. 1871
Johan Fredrick Oskar b. 1873
Per Elof b.1880
The whole family appears on the 1880 Swedish census, living in the parish Animskog. But they are not on the 1890 census. I was told that they might have gone to Norway (applied for emmigration to Norway in 1887). I have searched the Censuses for Norway and can not find them. I am starting believe that they might have come back to Sweden.
My questions are:
What are the names of Johan Jakob's parents? And where were they born?
Was Johan a farmer?
Can anyone locate them in Sweden after 1880?
I am beginning to wonder if the names on the 1880 census are the names they used after 1880.
Thanks in advance for any information you might have on this family.
Mary

Hi,
Johan is born as ”Jan Jacob” June 5th, 1841. And he is, later in life, a “Hemansägare” which means that he is a farmer and that he owns a fairly large farm
Father: Ander Jansson born 1804
Mother: Lena Lisa Johanessdotter born 1810
You’ll find the family in the Skållerud Houshold Examination for the year 1841 -1846 on page 7
I can’t find the family in Sweden after 1887 but if you check the Ånimskog Houshold examination for the year 1886 -1890, page 471, you’ll find a death certifacte for Oskar (Johan Fredrik)that shows that he was living in Norway at the time of his death ( July 1st 1921) It also shows that he kept his Swedish citizenship.
Kind Regards
JC
