Helping hands helping one another with our family history & genealogy research.
Having details of: Ethel STEEL from 1931 oward (Birth of Daughter Marlene in PICKERING N/Yorks and subsequent marriage to Arthur John WOZENCROFT (Welsh Miner at Durham/Seaham Pits) 1932, I struggle to find Ethel's prior history/origins? a Caadian TRee lists her as 1914 but owner unable to confim this as Fact/Registration. Arthur's age was b.1899 proved so, she a lot younger by deduction in this yet to be verified. All avenues to date brickwalled! Grateful any solution?

City directories may help you find the family at that time. You have not given us a year of birth for her. Her age should appear on the marriage certificate. I find the bmd index reference for their marriage as follows January-March 1933 District Pickering vol. 9d page 561. To move back you will need the information on this certificate and hopefully her father's name and occupation may lead you to the family on the 1911 census. An address for her on the marriage certificate could also locate her parents if she lived at home ie she has a young child.
YOu have not posted much to go on but I believe this is the only root left open to you.

Permalink Reply by bcrick on March 7, 2012 at 11:16am I just had a quick look on Ancestry and there is a tree there which gives Ethel Constance Steel from her death index reference it states her date of birth as 29 June 1894. This may lead you to finding her on the 1901 and 1911 census its well worth a try. I find no index for a birth for Ethel Constance Steel in 1894 so the Constance could have been added when she was baptized. Who Knows? Thought this may help you out.
