My grandparents

I am really stumped and I am wondering if anyone can help. I am really trying to find out more information about how to get a copy of my great  grandmother May Letitia Cornelia Steele born in Kandy 10th May 1887. My mother did get a copy at one stage but sent it back as it was all in Sri Laken so she couldn't understand any of it. May died in Victoria Australia in 1955. May's parents were John Ernest Steele and Elizabeth Steele. John apparently died when May was small. Elizabeth then remarried …See More

Profile Information

A Little About Me
My name is Jackie and I was born in Melborne Victoria Australia. My parents emigrated over here about 52 years ago. I am married and have two daughters aged 19 and 13.
Names I Research & their locations .... (please be specific here)
Walton family particualy my paternal grandfather Sidney Walton born in 1906 in Bugthorpe. Also his Mother Annie Elizabeth Rawding born 1872 in Sheffield and his father Joseph Walton born in 1867 in Beadlam.
I got started researching my family history ......
Because all off my family on both my parents side are English although alot of their time in India due to the army and air force. My fathers side of the family are Venn/Stopher and my mothers side were Evans/Walton
I have been doing genealogy since ....
We all have them - my biggest brick wall is .......
Sidney Walton
My granny Mabel Alice Evans married my grandfather Sidney Walton in India in early 1929. My mother Yvonne May Walton was born on 30th July 1930. Unfortunately when Sidney found out that Mabel was pregnant he left her. We never found out anymore information until my parents tried to search him in approx 1995. They were able to locate relatives but refused to have anything to do with my mother. She did find out from them that he did re marry but they had no children. I guess his relatives felt threatned by her. Such a shame as being an only child she thought it would be nice to have a link. My mum is now 82 and has memory loss but I would really like to find out a little more as I have heart attack at 36 and wonder if any of the walton family have heart diease.
By joining Looking 4 Kin I hope to .....
find out a ltittle more about my family espically on my mohters side. As I live in Australia it is hard not actually being in the UK.

Hi, I think I have been in touch with your mum before.  My grandfather was Sidney's brother Francis from Bugthorpe.  Their parents were Joseph Walton and Annie Elizabeth Rawding.  Joseph was born in Crambe Yorkshire to John Walton and Elizabeth Marshall, John's father was Joseph from Beadlam.  Elizabeth Rawding was born in Brightside, Sheffield and the family lived in Newark for a while until moving upto Malton, Yorkshire because her father William was the chief Maltster in the Brewery there.  I have a photograph of the house in Bugthorpe where they lived if i can attach it to this reply.  My father is also Joseph Walton and he has one brother David and two sisters Dorothy and Shirley.  As far as I am aware, heart desease is not in the Walton family, but I know that cardial infarction was the cause of her death, but she was in her 70's.DSCF0006.JPG
