Looking for Connells in Dublin and a possible McGuirk connection...

Hey all,My G-G-Grandfather Martin Connell was married to Mary Keegan in 1861 in Dublin.  Martin is directly on my paternal line, but I have no date or place of birth for him.  I have his death record, and while it shows his parents as Henry and Mary, it does not provide a date of birth nor a maiden name for his mother.  His marriage record also does not show a maiden name. So, Martin Connell's parents were Henry and Mary.  I don't know if he had siblings, but I suspect at least a brother Henry,…See More

Hey all, Apparently this letter below is a fake, likely an old-fashioned variety of the "Nigerian Prince" emails, which somehow persisted over decades and continues to throw researchers off track.Source:http://thompsongenealogy.com/2010/05/old-letter-is-probably-fake-but-still-makes-good-reading/But, it's still rather humorous, (IMO) and a good example of why to question *everything*…See More

A Little About Me
Native of Rockford, IL...

I'm passionate about Photography, the Outdoors, and anything technological.

I'm one of the few people who can code a website, program an application, bash script for Linux, and program a CNC Milling machine, line-by-line. And coding is just one of my skills.
Names I Research & their locations .... (please be specific here)
O'Connell - New York (Manhattan, Queens, "Hell's Kitchen"), Dublin (South).
Creighton - New York (Manhattan, Queens, "Hell's Kitchen), Ireland
Cramer - New York (Manhattan), Prussia, Ireland(?)
Divers - New York (Manhattan), Ireland
Mulcahy
I got started researching my family history ......
I got started as my father was reaching the end of his years...

There's something not rigth about the story of his ancestors, therew's large gaps that need filling.

Most importantly, his family story does not include a date or cause of death for his Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, or Great-Grandmother.
I have been doing genealogy since ....
Around 2 years or so now.
We all have them - my biggest brick wall is .......
All of the info on my fathers side comes from letters my great-aunt (fraternal g-father's sister), as well as notes that my mother wrote from conversations with her.

However, the kicker is that her father passed when she was only 4, so everything she knew about him and his family was 2nd-hand, and she's passed on now.

I have yet to come up with a death cert for my fraternal g-grandfather, g-g-grandfather, g-g-mother, or my g-great-uncle, who also passed around the time of my g-grandfather.

In short, all I know is what happend to their kids once they got married. After that, the information stops.
By joining Looking 4 Kin I hope to .....
Locate distant relatives and uncover parts of my family history that have been largely buried in obscurity.
