The Rice Family arrived in Brisbane from Kilkenny in 1862 on the Whirlwind.  The family consisted of:  John, Barbara (nee Hennessy), Bridget, Richard, Martin, Laurence, Catherine, Margaret, James, Maria Cecilia & Julia.The family settled in Gympie and John, Barbara, Bridget (Lynch) Laurence, Catherine (Cahill), Margaret (Cullinane), Maria Cecilia (Butler) & Julia are buried in Gympie cemetery.  James died in 1912 but I do not know where he is buried.Bridget married Edward Lynch,…See More

Rice - Richard/James/John Tullamaine Callan

I am tracing family of Richard Rice 1770-1834 from Tullamaine. Buried at Grove. Married Bridget Healy. Reported to be first cousin of Edmund Rice of Westcourt (founder of Christian Brothers). Richard had two sons James and John who were both evicted from holdings in Tullamaine in 1840s/1850s John immigrated to Australia with wife Barbara Hennessy and 9 children in 1862. I am looking for any information on the Burke family living in Fahanlunaghta More, Kilmanaheen, Co.
