Thanks for your reply, I have purchased the transcriptions of the marriage certificate in 1843, also the death certificate both haven't shed much clear light on where he may have come from or his lineage.

He was born 1809 /1810 London, England (from his Death certificate)
He was married in 1843 Sydney, New South Wales to Matilda Watson. (I'm in the process to try and get some information from the Presbyterian church registers for parents etc in Sydney but so far nothing)
His Parents William Brown Or Bruce & Emma. (from his death certificate) He passed away in 1890. There are several trees of family members that only have the brown information on various sites, But the only confirmation of his surname of being Bruce is from a distant relative also one of his descendants.
