This is my ggrandmother. Her name is Ida Francis (Frances) Lohse Kaestner. She was married to Karl Lohse. They had 5 children, Johanna, Willie, Kurt, Dora and Carl. She was born in 1860, and I think her birth city/town was Schmledeberg, Germany. She was married to Karl in 1890 and in 1900 she was living in a boarding house with him. In 1910 she was a widow in Queens, NY at the age of 50. Ida immigrated two times, once with Karl in 1899 and then again in 1900.
The main thing Im having trouble with is the finding of her maiden name. Kaestner is no where to be found. When it is listed it is always with the last name of Lohse.
Does anyone know in which direction I need to go in now? How do I find the Kaestner last name? Her son, Willie, had this last name on his marriage license is where I found it, but he might not have spelled it correctly. Thanks for any help.
