SCOTT of Anson County, NC

DNA results leads us to believe that my husband is a descendant of Nathaniel Scott, of Queen Anne's County, MD, who died there by 1742.Nathaniel or his wife Ann were connected to the Godwins and Youngs of QA in some way. We also know that the Scotts married into the Chairs/Cheairs family as well as the Thomas family. Nathaniel Scott's sons (or more likely grandsons), William and Nathaniel Scott, migrated to Anson County, NC by 1771 where both received land grants. They may have moved there…See More

Scott: Burke, Jefferson Emanuel & Screven Co. GA

My husband's ggg grandfather Britton Scott was born c. 1795 in GA and died in 1881 in Emanuel Co. He married Nancy Price in 1816 in Emanuel County.A family Bible says Britton's father was William Scott. We think he is likely the William Scott who received land grants in the mid 1780's in Burke Co. and later paid land taxes in Jefferson County (perhaps due to county line changes).DNA results prove we are also kin to the Scotts of nearby Screven Co. DNA also leads us to believe William Scott…See More
