Well hi to everyone. My family search is mainly in Limerick Ireland. I am searching for the parents of Patrick Ponsonby b. 1825. The only information that I have is that he was born to Mr and Mrs Ponsonby (Formerly Rowan). They were Roman Catholic. It is thought that Patrick had at least three sisters that went to the convent and at least one brother. Patrick is supposed to have attended the All Hollows Seminary, in Ireland from about 1854 to 1856, when he has left and migrated to new Zealand. I would dearly love to hear from anyone who may have any information.
Thank you, Tasteach. Was hoping it would be a family member but I'm not surprised that it wasn't. What an awfully painful way to die. Poor man, I wondered what took him so relatively young.
Hello Tasteach, Thanks for your welcome email. I look forward to investigating the site more thoroughly to know how to contribute more fully. Kind regards, Gabrielle.
Gday Tasteach I've an ancestor from Tassie one Robert Bayley (Claudine 1821) who hooked up with Mary Hogan on his travails. She brought him back to NSW eventually and they settled around Yass having lots of children over the years & finally marrying here.
Have been trying to catch you in the chat room but we keep missing each other. I was beginning to think no one went to the room until I happen to log on the other day and caught Dae and others talking about climate change.
Like most people we all are so busy these days but I hope to catch up one of these days. None of my ancestors were from Tasmania but can always use some advice on trying to find some of my brick walls.
All new to this site still trying to work out how it work's, and fairly new to this genealogy, only came about 1 1/2 years after my grandmother died(2007/8) and nobody new anything of the family( the subject was always changed by my grandmother). i thought i would have it hard with 1 side being the "smith" but surprising wasnt to bad , a little info here and there and it all started to come together, talked by email and phone to reletives no body new about from N.Z, S.A ,OLD even Canada , its amazing a photo here and there suddenly i have 100's of old reletive's photo's that nobody new about some dating back to 1840's( so had to put some of them on a web site mickjansen.com.au) and thousand's of entries, but i am a little disorganized and have lots more info and phot'o on my computer.
I think it's some amazing the name's that come up, profession's even photo's ( 1 from the 1860's that look's similer to my daughter) that are the same as my close family.
So what part of Tassie do you live, we went last year what a pretty place, we went down to the Huon area where my reletive's came from. Just couldnt get over the view's you pay big money in Victoria for those views. Iam sure i would have walked straight past some reletives there is a lot name's that pop up all the time.
I was wondering is Ancestry worth it , downloaded a tree on to it but not sure it's worth it to join have you had any experence with it , done well with out it but is there a lot more on there
thanks mick jansen
p.s Please dont look at my spelling there's isnt a spell check

Hello Tasteach, I am trying to discover where Patrick Walsh and Margaret Healy married.
He was born in Launceston about 1840.
Their first child Catherine was born in Sydney in 1853 so
I am guessing they married about 1852 - 3 probably in Hobart.
many thanks in anticipation
Max
